A Day Around The Bay
15 July, 2010
My parents came and visited from Perth for the weekend, a couple of days ago we took a drive down the peninsula to Sorrento, ferried the heads to Queenscliff and continued along the Great Ocean Rd to Lorne before returning back to Melbs. I made a Nath Mallonesque video as a result of the day’s events…doesn’t compare to his stuff.

Drake
4 June, 2010
For some, one of the most anticipated Rap albums of the year leaked like a day ago, Drake’s Thank Me Later. Go download it or wait till it drops on the 15th June.
Wow was this disappointing, not that I was hoping that it would be good, I was kinda hoping it would suck and guess what? It does. With Drake hitting a mega identity crises, you never really know what the heck he is trying to be, a gangsta? a backpacker? or an usher? From one song to the next he does something different, he did do this a little on his mixtape a little and it worked but this album has no over-riding consistency and so when these different approaches come together track after track it just fails. Another problem occurs with all of the star-studded features on his album (Jay Z, Lil Wayne etc), usually this would be a good thing for an album/artist, but on Thank Me Later the features dominate the tracks they appear on and make Drake look like the secondary part not the primary.
Finally the main issue I have with this album is that there is only one good song on the album, Over his first single has great production and awesome beats (but I still really only liked this track when Eminem killed it with Dispicable), Drakes rhymes are pretty crap but other than Over the rest of the album is so appallingly bad its quite unbelievable. The sad thing is a crap load of people think this album is amazing claiming the best rap album of 2010, when its quite possibly the biggest diappointment of 2010. I think Drake is better off going down the RnB road, I dont know if he can really pull of the whole rap game when his flow is terrible and all he raps about his money and his excess lifestyle (then again that is Rap). His singing voice isnt bad and would probably excel being the next Usher as he would probably find a nice home writing pop songs.
1.5/10
